New York City based South African artist working in a variety of media and styles

After a life time of taking part time art classes while working as a computer programmer, I have taken the plunge this year and enrolled in a full time Certificate of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art in Tribeca, Manhattan. I am loving focusing on art everyday, drawing the figure from life and learning to use oil paint for the first time.

Influenced by my childhood in South Africa and over ten years of drawing animal taxidermy at the American Museum of Natural History, animals feature heavily in my artwork.

My favorite medium at the moment is pastels for their vibrant colors and wonderful loose brush strokes. I also enjoy working with artist markers and in printmaking, particularly monoprints and linocut.
